Max Pokrovsky, the frontman of the Russian rock band Nogu Svelo!, visited Kyiv for the first time in 15 years and found himself in the middle of one of Russia’s massive missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital.
The musician shared his experience on social media, saying that during the air raid he and a friend followed Ukrainian news broadcasts to understand where the missiles were heading and to stay informed about the situation.
Pokrovsky has lived in the United States since 2019. Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he publicly condemned the war, released several anti-war songs and repeatedly expressed support for Ukraine.
Because of his anti-war stance, Russian authorities labeled him a “foreign agent,” and all of his concerts in Russia were canceled.
