Iran reported an explosion aboard a ship in the Caspian Sea.
According to Tehran, one sailor was killed and another was injured.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Ukraine of carrying out the attack.
He called the strike a violation of international law and demanded a response from the United Nations and the European Union.
However, Iran has provided no public evidence that the damaged vessel was involved only in civilian transportation.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously reported strikes on ships used to transport military cargo between Russia and Iran.
Tehran has already warned that the incident will allegedly not go unanswered.
The question now is whether Iran will risk directly escalating its conflict with Ukraine.
