During a massive attack on Kyiv, a Russian missile struck the costume workshop of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio.
The building housed around 100,000 costumes and millions of clothing items connected to the history of Ukrainian cinema. Among them were costumes from iconic films such as “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors,” “The Lost Letter,” and “Bohdan Khmelnytsky.”
According to the studio’s management, the collection has been almost completely destroyed and cannot be restored. This is not only a loss for cinema, but also a devastating blow to Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
