Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada has supported the appointment of Yevhen Khmara as the country’s new Minister of Defense. A total of 312 lawmakers voted in favor, with the nomination receiving support not only from the parliamentary majority but also from several other factions and groups.
The largest number of votes came from the Servant of the People faction, with 193 of its MPs backing Khmara’s appointment.
At the same time, 16 MPs from European Solidarity, 16 from Batkivshchyna and 13 from Holos voted in favor of the new defense minister.
Khmara also received support from parliamentary groups: Platform for Life and Peace (PZZhM) provided 18 votes, For the Future — 15, and Dovira — 18.
The vote therefore demonstrated broad support for the new defense minister among representatives of different political forces in the Ukrainian parliament.
One notable detail was that only a single vote against the appointment appeared on the parliamentary voting board. That vote came from a member of the Servant of the People faction.
