Rome’s Calendario Romano, featuring portraits of handsome young men dressed in clerical attire, has been a popular tourist souvenir for more than two decades. But many of the men pictured in the calendar are not actually priests.
Longtime cover model Giovanni Galizia revealed that he posed wearing a clerical collar when he was 17 and has never been a priest. Calendar creator Piero Pazzi says at least one-third of the men featured in the already released 2027 edition are actual priests. The calendar is independent and has no affiliation with the Vatican.
