Ukrainian MP Ruslan Horbenko has criticized the Ministry of Social Policy following an audit of housing provision for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in rural areas. According to the lawmaker, although the 2026 state budget provides for 1,000 houses, not a single home has been delivered to displaced Ukrainians.
Speaking about the audit findings, Horbenko expressed strong dissatisfaction with the ministry’s performance.
“We conducted an audit of the Ministry of Social Policy regarding housing in rural areas. Of the 1,000 houses allocated under the 2026 budget, the Ministry of Social Policy has provided exactly zero homes to our displaced people,” the MP said, according to a translation of his remarks.
Horbenko described the situation as unacceptable, particularly during the ongoing war, which has forced many Ukrainians to leave their homes.
“This is a disgrace for the Ministry and for government officials who only claim to protect the rights of our displaced people,” he stated.
The MP’s remarks raise questions about the effectiveness of government housing initiatives for internally displaced Ukrainians and the accountability of officials responsible for implementing them.
