Investigators of Police Department No. 2 (Volochysk), together with operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in Khmelnytskyi region, under the procedural supervision of the Volochysk District Prosecutor’s Office, shut down an illegal gambling establishment.
The facility operated in the basement of a residential building. The entrance was through inconspicuous locked doors, and only a limited circle of people could gain access.
At the time of the police arrival, an administrator and one visitor were present on the premises. During the search, law enforcement officers seized personal computers with software for conducting money-based gambling, other computer equipment, video surveillance cameras, mobile phones, and bank cards.
The organizer of the illegal activity turned out to be a 63-year-old resident of Volochysk. During a search at her place of residence, police seized cash totaling over UAH 400,000 and handwritten notes.
Police investigators have already charged her under Part 1 of Article 203-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal activities in organizing or conducting gambling games, lotteries). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
