On July 9, news broke of the death of Ihor Poklad — People’s Artist of Ukraine and one of the most renowned composers in Ukrainian pop music. His songs were known to everyone: “Oy Letily Dyki Husy” (Oh, the Wild Geese Were Flying), “Tykha Voda” (Quiet Water), “Kokhana” (Beloved), and “Charivna Skrypka” (Magical Violin). He created musicals, comedies, and music that lived in people’s hearts. Ihor Poklad was an entire era of Ukrainian culture.
