Chinese researchers have developed a new form of cell therapy that has already shown promising results in cancer treatment. According to South China Morning Post, the therapy uses a genetically modified virus to activate the body’s immune system, prompting it to destroy cancer cells on its own.
The method has already cured four patients diagnosed with one of the most common types of blood cancer. The total cost of the therapy is around $130,000 — roughly four times cheaper than similar treatments currently used in the West.
Researchers believe the approach may also be effective in treating other immune-related conditions, including asthma. The innovation could mark a new era in personalized medicine — one that is more affordable and widely accessible.
